Overview - Standard New York
The Standard New York is located in one of the most intensely sought-after development sites in New York City, the trendy Meatpacking district. The Standard, designed by Todd Schliemann of the New York firm Polshek Partnership Architects, is a 20-story glass-slab building floating above the High Line. The High Line is an 80-year-old elevated freight railroad running down Manhattan’s West Side and through the site of The Standard. The High Line is an important landmark and therefore, the design of The Standard exists 30 feet above the track bed. From a distance, the building looks like an open book standing on end.All of The Standard's 337 guestrooms and suites offer stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, complimentary WiFi and local calls, 300 thread count Italian sheets and mood lighting. Contemporary décor combined with vintage accents adorn the guestrooms, creating a hip and trendy feel. For some of the best views in Manhattan, visit The Standard New York. Facing north, the Empire State Building takes center stage, with midtown Manhattan as a backdrop. Facing south, it seems as if the hotel cantilevers over the Hudson River, as the shore of Manhattan takes a sharp turn eastward.
